Climate change, which has been drastically impacting the planet in countless ways, is now set to impact another thing: the housing market. According to Zillow Group, there are over 386,000 homes along the coastal US that are at risk of flooding by the year 2050. This means that in roughly a year’s time, a traditional 30-year mortgage could be the last life of hundreds of thousands of houses. Unfortunately, it has been made extremely evident that emissions-driven pollution is one of the top driving factors for this drastic warming and eventual flooding. To check out the projected impact of areas by both 2050 and 2100, check out Zillow’s “Ocean at the Door” tool here.
